 DANIEL SHANKS

Daniel is originally from southern CA, and now lives in Houston, Texas. He has a great interest in Animation, currently extending his knowledge in the computer animation and fine arts in college. His interest in The Sims 2 computer program has inspired/encouraged him to experiment in movie making as it has a function where you can capture video in-game. He is utilizing this program to make his own adaptation of The Wizard of Oz which is pretty exciting.  He has a lot of interests that are educational and beneficial to his well being. Through the years his variety of interests such as; visual arts, creative writing, singing, piano, gymnastics, and  theater have all contributed, building his experience and developing a good foundation in order to continue his passion. He says, "As I grew up everyone noticed my skill in visual art", which I'm sure has also made a big impact on him. He feels his biggest strength is in conceptual design. After he took a series of examinations called the aptitude test he discovered his natural talent in Ideaphoria (idea making). "It helps a lot, to have ideas while being an artist at the same time. I love it when I get that constant flow of ideas really helps and that is partially why I love storytelling in any form. These days I'm not so much of an attention getter (in person) so I'm not doing theater or singing as much, I was introduced to that by my mother." Art and writing are correlated with his main goals and he is currently pursuing them using these talents full heartedly with the wonderful talented group of people, with the team here at VideosForFamily.com

Even more...Daniel is a big fan of the Wizard of Oz and is big fan of the L. Frank Baum books. Check out Daniel's video production web site, http://www.pumpkinweirdo.com

Billy Gilman, (Spring 2005-Present) Country Music Artist

BILLY GILMAN

On May 22, 2000, a young man named Billy Gilman become the youngest soloist ever to appear on Billboard's Country charts, breaking Brenda Lee's record (1957), with his debut single 'One Voice.'  In the same week, Billy's debut album is released, his first single soars to #1 on the Billboard Country Singles Sales Chart on June 19, 2000 and stays there for 5 weeks, making more Chart history. Amazing isn't?

His 'One Voice' goes Gold on July 19, 2000...In just 4 weeks, 'One Voice' is certified Gold, and Billy becomes the youngest country artist ever to have a gold album. On September 12, 2000 - Twelve weeks to the day of its release, Billy's 'One Voice' album receives Platinum certification from the RIAA, signifying One Million albums shipped. Billy is the youngest solo artist EVER, in any type of music, to be certified Platinum.
With both Billy's 'One Voice' and 'Classic Christmas' albums in Billboard's Top 10, and a combined sales of about 65,000 per week, Billy is the biggest selling artist in Country music at the end of November and beginning of December on November 13th 2000. The Daily Variety ends up naming Billy as one of the Top 10 Youths in Entertainment.

In late November 2001 Billy sang Michael Jackson's hit song 'Ben' at CBS' - 30th Anniversary as a Solo Performer - special in honour of Michael.

Following his "One Voice" album it was a Christmas album "Classic Christmas" (also released in 2000) and then second, "Dare to Dream" (in 2001), both of which were certified gold.

"Music Through Heartsongs: Songs Based on the Poems of Mattie J.T. Stepanek " was released in 2003. These songs were based on poems written by Mattie Stepanek, a poet with muscular dystrophy who passed away in 2004.  In 2005 he released "Everything and More".

Here, Billy Gilman explained at one point his album, "Everything & More" and the single at the time: "It was during the first process of getting some of the demo songs that they possibly wanted me to record.  I was sick that day.  As a matter of fact, I was so sick- I think I had the flu or 100 degree temperature.  It was bad.  So I was sitting in bed, and my mother came in and said "Oh, you've got songs, do you want to listen to them now?"  I said "sure, pop them in."  I was half asleep, half not, when this song came on and at that time, there were different lyrics.  I said "this is the one."  Even at that time, I knew it was going to be the first single.  I just had a feeling from day one.  It's beautiful.  I was un-sick for like 5 minutes or however long the song is.  And, I was reading who wrote the song, and one of the writers was Senator Orrin Hatch which I thought was amazing too.  It's amazing that he has time to write such a beautiful song.  It was just an unbelievable song and thank God it came to me."

One of Billy Gilman's biggest achievement within his music career is just to be singing again.  He continues, "It was such a rough point for me because I would try to sing within those two years when I was off with the voice change, but it wouldn't come out  I contemplated whether it was going to come back or not.  That's how bad it was.  So it's great to be back and belting and doing what I love.  That was a feat in itself.  But, I think the biggest thing was the Opry.  Grand Ole Opry was number 1 for me.  I think it always will be.

At one point he even appeared on the Stuart Little Two soundtrack, with a song titled, "Count On Me".

In March of 2005 Aaron Pacentine was able to do an interview with Billy Gilman for the VideosForFamily.com web site. It was the first audio interview to be displayed on the web site. Because of that interview it set a milestone for this web site (VideosForFamily.com) and we continue to promote Billy's work in music and endorse what he is doing as well.

In 2006, he released the self-titled "Billy Gilman"  album, this was his 6th album! I'm sure more will be on the way! In the past few years he's already released a few singles (available on ITunes and elsewhere online) rendition of the classic, "Crying" song.  For a number of years as MDA National Youth Chairman, Billy spearheaded the efforts of thousands of teenagers and young adults who help the Association’s lifesaving mission.

Billy now lives in Hope Valley with his parents Bill and Fran Gilman and his younger brother Colin. He frequently flys back and forth to Nashville to write and record music. He is also Celebrity Ambassador for the MDA (the Muscular Dystrophy Association)  You can check out and listen to Aaron's interview with Billy here which was recorded in March of 2005 when Billy was 16.
