An Interview With
Angela Howden

(January 2000)
By Aaron Pacentine, of VideosForFamily.com

1. How did you get interested in the "Little House" TV Series?

I remember watching it as a small child, Michael Landon first came into
my life about the age of five or so when my dad used to watch "Bonanza" on a
Saturday afternoon, then "Little House" came on after.

2. Have you read all of Laura Ingalls Wilder's "Little House" Books?

Yes, I have read the whole series, my favorite is "Little House On The
Prairie", and it's true what Mary says, Laura DOES make pictures with words.

3. Do you own any of Mrs. Wilder's Little House Books?

Yes, all the "Little House" series, and a "Little House Sampler".

4. What's your favorite episode of "Little House"?

That's easy, all the one's with Michael Landon in it! But if I had to
pick one "A Harvest Of Friends", the very first episode, it just makes me
cry every time I watch it on tape, because of the music, and because it's
such an innocent show.

5. Do you have any favorite "Little House" Movie Specials?
("The Last Farewell", "Bless All the Dear Children")

The Last Farewell is my particular favorite, I cry when they bomb the Town,
(I easily cry at "Little House" episodes).

6. Have you seen all of the "Little House" Episodes?

Yes, coming up for three times now, Channel 4(a UK station), is re-running
"Little House", so it's the second time I've seen it since Michael died,
and third since it actually started in 1974.

7. Who is your favorite character on the show?

Ooh! That's easy, Charles Ingalls (Michael Landon), but I think that
Katherine MacGregor(Mrs Oleson), is great for a laugh now and again, she
just doesn't know it.

8. What made you so interested in forming a "Little House" Society for the
Television Series?

I really enjoy the whole Western period in American history, and I also love the
person spiritual qualities that each episode brought out in the characters.

9. If someone wanted to become a member if the Fan Club, what would they need to do?

Well that's easy, I'm very happy to give you my e-mail address so that
people can e-mail me at: angela_howden@hotmail.com   and I will be very
happy to send them the information that they need.

10. What kind of features, are in this fan club?

At the moment, it's just started, so quarterly newsletters during the
year, a membership certificate, and articles in the newsletters, hopefully
the newsletters will get bigger as they go along, you can write as often as
you like, contribute as much as you like, send articles, poems, stories,
and, if you're feeling really artistic, drawings. There's no limit really.

11. Since, this is the first Fan Club for the "TV Series" do you plan to
let NBC know about what you have done?

I have got in touch with NBC via the e-mail address that you gave me
about letting them know if you want a "Little House" reunion, so far, I've
had no reply, but since Michael Landon's sister knows about it anyway, I
don't think there should be a problem, I would like to get in touch with Ed
Friendly (the owner to rights of "Little House" to make it official it, that would be great!").

12. What other things, will be included in this Fan Club?

I want to do a pen-pals section if people will co-operate to that,
because I've got several people in the UK, and US in the Society, and one in
Luxembourg. I have been sending out a survey form with each newsletter that
I have sent out so far about what people like about Little House, when I
find out from that what people want and what people like, then I will be
able to base it on that. In the next issue of the newsletter, I will send
out a pic of the Ingalls as a "thank you" for joining the society. In April
I will hopefully get a scanner for my birthday, and I will be showing pics
from my personal collection.

Thank you for the interview, I enjoyed it.
