Evie Tornquist Karlsson - Her Work & Life With White Field Music

An online article on Evie once stated she was Christian music’s first true “pop star" and she really was!

Still, Evie had little use for the privileges of stardom.

Evie once said simply:

“I’d like to be remembered as a girl that raised her flag to the highest for Christ. No compromising!” How true and wonderful that is, we should all remember that and take that to heart. Evie is absolutely right!

Evie has delighted millions with her music since the

1970s when she released her first, American album in 1974 simply titled "EVIE".

She is known for many songs, but most loved for, "COME ON RING THOSE BELLS", "FOUR FOOT ELEVEN", "PASS IT ON",
"GIVE THEM ALL TO JESUS", and "MIRROR". Evie was originally born in Rahway, New Jersey and is the only American born (within) her family. She first began her music career at a young age, while visiting Norway with her family. Aside from releasing many albums with Word Records, she also released a number in the Norwegian language.

With the help of a family friend in the 1970s, Evie was booked on a late night Norwegian talk show. She sang three songs and was interviewed. While in Scandinavia, Evie was approached by many for her to come and do concerts. It was an amazing experience even though she was still finishing up high school. Evie had her own TV specials in Norway, Holland and Sweden as well.

Many of her songs featured on the albums were released over the years, were written by her husband Pelle Karlsson who she married in 1979. They recorded many songs and several albums together, produced by their ministry, White Field Music. Evie had become one of the most popular Christian artists and one of the first during the 1970s and went on to release more than 30 albums, including several in various Scandinavian languages.

In the early 1980s Pelle and Evie Karlsson felt the Lord's leading to join the "SKY ANGEL DOMINION NETWORK". The Lord used them both in a might way for the Lord's glory. While there, they recorded a few other albums. Evie and her husband has since left the SKY ANGEL NETWORK a number of years ago. Although Evie is "officially" retired from performing and doing concerts all the time on a regular basis since 1981 - she is still pursuing her music ministry with White Field Music, (owned by Pelle and Evie Karlsson) in Florida and very much involved in missions work with Back to Jerusalem. Evie still does some concerts in Churches and in other venues and is also still on tour. She also tours to different venues with Rebecca St. James in a Mother and Daughter outreach series of programs they put on called, the "SHE" events. Please see the events page.

Evie currently resides with her husband Pelle in Florida. Their two children, Kris and Jenny Karlsson are now out of high school. Jenny is already now very recently married and is a school teacher. Evie and her music is still loved today more then ever, and Evie albums are still being hunted down and collected by her fans. I had the wonderful privilege of having a very special invitation to a Concert that Evie was able to take part of, in September of 2005. Earlier, that year in February Evie was officially inducted into the Gospel Music Hall of Fame on February 22, 2005

Evie is just a wonderful person and it's amazing even after several years she hasn't changed that much. If you ever get a chance to meet her, you will really be able to tell that she loves the Lord. Evie actually came and preformed last year (2005) in Columbia, South Carolina ! It was a really wonderful experience and I had the honor of getting to meet her, along with Rebecca St. James as well. (They were both performing together).

Andrew Culverwell is an English Contemporary Christian music artist and songwriter who recorded in the 1970s and 1980s. He is probably best remembered for writing the Christmas song "Come On Ring Those Bells" performed in 1977 by Evie. In 1973, Christian gospel singer and songwriter - Andrae Crouch introduced Andrew Culverwell to Hal Spencer, the president of Manna Records - now Manna Music. You will also hear about this story and how Andrae was a major influence on Andrew's work. Andrew and his wife, currently live in Florida.
