Internship & Training At Focus on the Family,
Colorado Springs, Colorado & In Southern California (June 2006)
(Stories, interviews, and more direct from people at Focus and Producers, Writers, and Actors from the world of "Adventures in Odyssey" )

During June, 2006 I was able come out to Focus on the Family in Colorado Springs, CO on an internship to train with the film department. I was trained and was learning how to edit a lot of different video footage, professionally  at the Focus on the Family film department. One of the first tasks that I was able to do was to make my own video clip commercial using some video footage that the company has previously filmed for a commercial they were using for their Plugged In Magazine. It was a lot of fun! They let me make a commercial advertising my web site. I got to choose the music for the commercial and I was even able to record voice overs in one of their studios for this. This was very exciting. I have learned so much just through being able to do that and even learning so much through this experience. After I was finished with that, I helped edit and work on a released series of DVDs for one of their conference series. I helped in a number of different areas in regards to the production on DVD with this series. I learned a lot just by watching everyone work on it let alone, learn different things from the speakers.
During the second week I was here, I had been talking with Nathan he is one of the guys who writes for the Adventures in Odyssey radio show and I have been friends with him since 1997. I maintained, back in 1997 for a few years one of the 1st "Adventures in Odyssey" web sites on the Internet. Surprisingly enough, I was told by him, that I actually created the very FIRST,  "Adventures in Odyssey" message board on the internet. I had started on Yahoo Clubs! an "Odyssey" club and message board and at one time we had about 400 to 450 members, those were pretty exciting times!

Nathan, works now in Colorado Springs at Focus on the Family. He had told me that on the week of June 12th they were leaving for southern CA to record some shows for the Adventures in Odyssey series. He had wanted me to come and to ask their producer of the show, Marshall Younger if he wouldn't mind me coming w/ them to watch the recording sessions and to spend time w/ them. I told my parents about it and if he said yes, I would be able to go w/ them. He had said yes, and I was able to fly out to Burbank for 4 days and get to watch them in their recording sessions. It was quite an interesting experience, and I just loved it. I met many of the actors who have been on the show for like about 19 years now, since 1987. I hadn't been back to CA since I was 8 years old. It was amazing! I was able to video record parts of their recording sessions and then also be able to interview some of these people for my web site...that I will use after I get back in July. Two very exciting opportunities I was able to have while there was getting invited to go to the NBC studios in Burbank with one of the actors from the Odyssey show, this guy named
Townsend Coleman. Townsend does the voice of Mr. Whittaker's son,  Jason. He records a lot of the promos for the NBC nightly shows, so that was interesting. Next time you flip though NBC and the commercials come on, for example the ads for some of the shows on NBC... listen to the voice on there. That guy is the guy that I met while in the greater Los Angelus area.  This guy is a Christian and very much in favor Focus on the Family and their ministry along w/ the "Adventures in Odyssey' Radio Series.

God has greatly blessed me while I was there and I am become really close friends with several other people here at Focus on the Family, who are also in on this internship with me. We had made plans toward the end of the month of  June, and went to the Six Flags Theme Park over in Denver, Colorado and that was lots of fun, we stayed up pretty late that evening!

During my time in Colorado, I have gotten so used to working here and living down there for entire month, it's just an amazing place, with great people and a wonderful ministry to serve the Lord in.... not to mention the wonderful creation and view of the mountains almost everywhere around in that area. Below you will get to hear interviews with several of the team members of the "Odyssey" show including many of the actors ! There are also a few testimonies from some wonderful hardworking employees at Focus on the Family as well. This was a very exciting time for me and since this was being recorded for my web site, I had to do a good job with it. As you hear most of these, please be aware that you will hear conversation somewhat in the background. Most of the time, people were going in and out of the different studios but if you listen closely you'll get the general idea of what is going on with the questions and answers!  Enjoy!!!  -   Aaron Pacentine
