The History of the Odyssey Radio Series

The Adventures in Odyssey radio series first began with Focus on the Family's first radio drama program entitled "Family Portraits" it was 13 week test drama series, that was aired on the daily Focus on the Family broadcast with Dr. James Dobson. This was a spin-off from the Adventures in Odyssey Series.  It introduced a very friendly elderly man named John Avery Whittaker. (Who is better known as Whit, to most of his close friends)
"Family Portraits" stopped airing at the closing year of 1987. The series changed to "Odyssey U.S.A." then later in 1988 Focus on the Family changed the show again to "Adventures in Odyssey". We know know this as the series title today.
