HONEYTREE COMING IN APRIL!!!
Originally born in the mid-western state of Iowa, Nancy
Honeytree-Miller was born into a family of professional classical musicians. The
name "Honeytree" was a translation from German of her family name. In the
spring of the 1970s Honeytree's sister had been studying at the Fort Wayne Art
School in Indiana, and she was able to come over for the Easter holiday. While
she was there she was able to meet a number of different people that were
involved with the "Jesus movement" in the 70s. After meeting them they had
introduced her to a man by the name of John Lloyd. John was a youth minister and
operated a Christian coffeehouse called, "the Adam's Apple". This
had happened during an Easter Holiday and with the experiences she trusted Jesus
and became born-again Christian. Attending a Monday night Bible study
sessions, Honeytree began to write original Christian songs. One song of
Honeytree's that has become very popular over the years is "CLEAN BEFORE MY
LORD" and another favorite such as "I DON'T HAVE TO WORRY" which many been able
to relate to the versions that
Evie Tornquist
Karlsson has recorded back in the 1970s.
When she was called
on to lead a group of singers in worship, she sometimes added one of her own
songs to the evening's music. A minister, impressed, borrowed money so that she
could record and press her first album, Honeytree, in 1973. Honeytree
was picked up and reissued by the nationally distributed Christian label
Myrrh.
One of its songs, "Clean Before My Lord," was a hit, and "Treasures" also
ended up became a Christian wedding favorite. In
June of 1990, at the age of 38, Honeytree married John Richard Miller
(known as J.R.). Since 1991 Honeytree has been able travel to make many
trips Mexico, plus visits to also Honduras, Peru, and Nicaragua, spreading the
gospel of Jesus Christ in the Spanish language. 1993 had marked 20 years
of recording for her. To celebrate this occasion she wrote 11 new songs and
(Nancy Honeytree, with her husband and their son in between)
released a CD. The latest CD she has produced to date, is "Change
You Made in Me," it speaks about her focus on missions work. Her ministry Honeytree/Windsong Ministries, Inc is located in Fort Wayne, Indiana.
