NAVARRE’S BCI  PRESENTS THE ANIMATED CLASSIC

“JOURNEY BACK TO OZ”

Special Edition DVD Available As of October 24th
2006

This year (2006) celebrates the 150 anniversary of L. Frank Baum's birth, and surprisingly enough, Andy Mangels and the BCI entertainment team has released onto DVD, what is known as one of the sequel's to the M-G-M classic, "The Wizard of Oz", with the 1970s classic Oz film, "JOURNEY BACK TO OZ". Their care and display of the quality of the animation now that they have restored it, is beautiful and all of the special features are well put together and very informative. Good work, in brining Oz back in this way! Aaron Pacentine of VideosForFamily.com

Los Angeles, CA – There’s perhaps no greater fantasy film than “The Wizard of Oz.”  In the early 1970s, the brilliant creators at Filmation Studios updated this movie classic, incorporating their magical animation skills, and created “Journey Back to Oz.”  This animated film classic, featuring the voices of such legendary stars as Liza Minnelli, Mickey Rooney, Ethel Merman, Danny Thomas and Milton Berle, will be available on October 24th at the suggested retail price of $14.98, from BCI, a wholly-owned subsidiary of Navarre Corporation, and UK media company and underlying rights owner, Entertainment Rights Plc (“ER”).

Liza Minnelli recreates the role of Dorothy made famous by her legendary mother, Judy Garland.  Joined once again by the Scarecrow (Rooney), Tin Man (Thomas), The Cowardly Lion (Berle) and new friend Pumpkin Head (Paul Lynde), Dorothy travels back to Oz, and encounters a whole new set of adventures when she meets up with Mombi (Merman), the cousin of the Wicked Witch of the West.

Making a cameo voice appearance as Aunt Em is Margaret Hamilton, the original Wicked Witch of the West.

“Journey Back to Oz” features songs and music by Walter Scharf and Academy Award® and Emmy Award winners Sammy Cahn and James Van Heusen.

Special features include:

Producing the special features, documentaries and most of the extra content is entertainment writer Andy Mangels, a best-selling novelist, and author of Animation on DVD—The Ultimate Guide.
