FAQ

1. What is the Little House on the Prairie TV Series?

The Little House TV Series is based upon Laura Ingalls Wilder's Book Series: "Little House on the Prairie".

2. How long was "Little House" on the air and how many episodes were there?

"Little House" was a 2 Hour TV Film and it then is became a series of 164 episodes. In 1983 the show changed to "Little House: A New Beginning". Then later on three TV Movies, entitled "Little House: Look Back Yesterday", (1983), "Little House: Bless all The Dear Children" (1983) "Little House: The Last Farewell" (1984) were aired on NBC. The show is now aired weekdays on TBS (The Cable Station). TBS no longer airs the rights to any of the 3 Little House Films, but they do air the series and from time to time they air some of the 90 Minute Specials.

3. Were there ever any books that were made about the Little House TV Series?

Yes, there are two books published entitled: "Little House on the Prairie" by Gary Libman. This book was about how Michael Landon started the Television Series, "Little House on the Prairie".
The other book, entitled
"La Petite Maison dans la Prairie - Walnut Grove Terre Promise" by Patrick Loubatiere. This is a really neat book, but most of it is written in French. It has 105 pictures and even a whole episode guide with a ton of information on the Main Cast Members, of Little House. For more information on how to get your copy of "La Petite Maison dans la Prairie", please contact Patrick Loubatiere at  To learn more details about the book,  you can contact the author by e-mail at patrick.edson@lemel.fr  As of right now, this book is not printed in  English, but hopefully an American publisher will think about publishing the book. I have a copy of this book, and it' very good if you can't even read French, because there are lots of neat pictures and a few Cast Pictures.  Sadly, at this point this book is out of print, hopefully sometime again soon it will be back in circulation.

4. Where there any tribute TV Specials or Little House on the Prairie or the rest of the Little House on the Prairie Cast?

No, there were never any tribute shows to honor Little House on the Prairie. But there was a NBC Christmas Party that aired in 1982 and it featured "Melissa Gilbert, and Dean Butler".

There was 3 Hour Thanksgiving Special that aired on NBC in the late 70s entitled "The Little House Years". Melissa Gilbert and Michael Landon star in this touching and moving Little House Movie. The Ingalls Family is sitting around the table with Mary and her husband Adam, they talk about the past few years and this special shows clips of the "Early Classic Little House Episodes". *The LHOTP Pilot*, *The Lord is my Shephard 2 Parts*, *The 100 Mile Walk*, and many other "classic episodes" of Little House.

On a Television Talk Show/Episode, in 1998 Melissa Gilbert  talked about her work on the  Little House on the Prairie Television Series and with Michael Landon and the rest of the Little House Cast. There was even some Pics shown of her and of many other cast members of Little House. This show was aired on the "Lifetime Cable Network", sometime in 1998. It was shown on the Television Series entitled "Intimate Portraits". The subject was Melissa Gilbert". This was also a Lifetime Cable Network Television Series.  Leslie Landon and Melissa's Mom, were also guests on this show.

5. Will there ever be a Little House Movie with the cast in it?

There have been rumors going around that NBC was going to produce a reunion movie with the Little House cast members, but the plans fell through. Right now, a major movie company was to put together a "Little House" movie for the big screen in 2000, but that never came to light. As far as I know, NO cast members from the original  "Little House on the Prairie"  Television Series will be in this project. Last year ABC's "Wonderful World of Disney aired a "Little House on the Prairie" mini series, self-titled: "Little House on the Prairie" the film stared Erin Cottrell and it was an amazing mini series. There was talk with different people within the ABC studio to bring the Little House mini series.... into a new LHOTP TV Series, for the fall of 2005 sadly that never took place and ABC decided not to pick it up. For more on this series directly from the young woman who played Caroline Ingalls, (Erin Cottrell) please check an official interview conducted with her here at:

6.  Did Albert Quinn Ingalls die at the end of "Look Back To Yesterday"? *Sent in by Hiphats@aol.com *

There has been a continuing debate amongst "Little House" fans on Albert's final fate. But those people should have been watching the series more carefully. Although the scriptwriters may or may not have intended for Albert to die, it is very visibly clear that Albert lives through the final scene of "Look Back..." Also, at the end of the episode "Home Again" Laura states that Albert returned to Walnut Grove and became a doctor. If Albert returned in "Look Back..." and was not yet the doctor, then we can only conclude that Albert survived his disease (cured by God, in his grace), obtained his Masters' Degree in medicine, and came back to Walnut Grove as the doctor before the town was destroyed in "The Last Farewell", but that particular subplot was never depicted in any other episode beyond "Look   Back..." In plain English, the answer is "NO", Albert never died in any "Little House Episode". NBC never, did really say what happened to Albert and even Matthew (who played the part of Albert)  I am sure didn't know what was going on with everything.

7. Will The Pilot Movie of Little House on the Prairie or any Little House Episodes ever be put out on DVD?

That's a very good question!  GoodTimes Home Video and DVD has released a number of episodes on VHS and DVD over the years both in the early 1990s and the early years of 2000.
